شورای امنیت،
با یادآوری قطعنامه‌های ۵۹۸ (۱۹۸۷) ۲۰ جولای ۱۹۸۷، ۶۱۹ (۱۹۸۸) ۹ اوت ۱۹۸۸ و ۶۳۱ (۱۹۸۹) ۸ فوریه ۱۹۸۹،
با توجه به گزارش ۲۲ سپتامبر ۱۹۸۹ دبیرکل سازمان ملل متحد در مورد گروه ناظر نظامی ایران و عراق، و توجه به مشاهدات بیان شده در آن،
تصمیم می‌گیرد:
(الف) یک بار دیگر از طرف‌های ذینفع دعوت شود برای اجرای فوری قطعنامه شورای امنیت ۵۹۸ (۱۹۸۷);
ب) تمدید مأموریت گروه ناظر نظامی سازمان ملل متحد بر ایران و عراق برای یک دوره دیگر شش‌ماهه، یعنی تا ۳۱ مارچ ۱۹۹۰.
(ج) درخواست از دبیر کل برای ارائه گزارشی از تحولات در وضعیت و اقدامات انجام شده برای اجرای قطعنامه ۵۹۸ (۱۹۸۷) در پایان این دوره.
The Security Council,
Recalling its resolutions 598 (۱۹۸۷) of 20 July 1987, ۶۱۹ (۱۹۸۸) of 9 August 1988 and 631 (۱۹۸۹) of 8 February 1989,
Having considered the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Iran-Iraq Military Observer Group of 22 September 1989, and taking note of the observations expressed therein,
Decides:
(a) To call once again upon the parties concerned to implement immediately Security Council resolution 598 (۱۹۸۷);
(b) To extend the mandate of the United Nations Iran-Iraq Military Observer Group for a further period of six months, that is, until 31 March 1990;
(c) To request the Secretary-General to submit, at the end of this period, a report on the developments in the situation and the measures taken to implement resolution 598 (۱۹۸۷).
