شورای امنیت،
با یادآوری قطعنامه‌های ۵۹۸ (۱۹۸۷) ۲۰ جولای ۱۹۸۷ و ۶۱۹ (۱۹۸۸) ۹ آگست ۱۹۸۸،
با توجه به گزارش ۲ فوریه ۱۹۸۹ دبیرکل سازمان ملل متحد در مورد گروه ناظر نظامی ایران و عراق، و توجه به مشاهدات بیان شده در آن،
تصمیم می گیرد:
الف) از طرف‌های ذینفع بخواهد تا قطعنامه ۵۹۸ (۱۹۸۷) شورای امنیت را فوراً اجرا کنند؛
ب) تمدید مأموریت گروه ناظر نظامی سازمان ملل متحد بر ایران و عراق به مدت هفت نفر ماه و بیست و دو روز، یعنی تا ۳۰ سپتامبر 1989;
(ج) درخواست از دبیر کل برای ارائه گزارشی از تحولات در وضعیت و اقدامات انجام شده برای اجرا قطعنامه ۵۹۸ (۱۹۸۷) در پایان این دوره.
The Security Council,
Recalling its resolutions 598 (۱۹۸۷) of 20 July 1987 and 619 (۱۹۸۸) of 9 August 1988,
Having considered the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Iran-Iraq Military Observer Group of 2 February 1989, and taking note of the observations expressed therein,
Decides:
A) To call upon the parties concerned to implement immediately Security Council resolution 598 (۱۹۸۷);
B) To renew the mandate of the United Nations Iran-Iraq Military Observer Group for a period of seven months and twenty-two days, that is, until 30 September 1989;
C) To request the Secretary-General to submit, at the end of this period, a report on the developments in the situation and the measures taken to implement resolution 598 (۱۹۸۷).
